CPB Reflection for 4/22
Mariah’s CPB:
“Hey Mariah,
After looking through your commonplace entries over the week I have noticed a pattern in what you choose to include and how you include it. You always take the time to find images to go along with the commonplace entry which makes it more interesting and interactive in my opinion. I also noticed how you seem to focus more on the criticism of the novel and you don’t just find things from the back of the novel. It’s very interesting to me that you choose to focus more on other people’s opinions of the novel versus the content of the novel itself when it comes to the commonplace book. Your entries make me think about the different opinions when it comes to novels and wonder why there isn’t much in terms of negative criticism for the novels we read, or if there is we don’t choose to focus on it and can’t find it easily.”
Caitlyn’s CPB:
“Hey Caitlyn,
I have really enjoyed looking at your commonplace entries over the past couple weeks. It has been very interesting to look at your entries because they tend to have a few quotes relating to criticisms or further explanation of the novel followed by at least two images that go outside the scope of the novel. Your images have made me think about modern day depictions of the pieces of the novels, because they tend to be from sources outside of the ones provided to us so they provide a different line of thinking. Your quotes focused more on contextualizing the novel and providing background information instead of looking more at the critical side of the novels.”
Eve’s CPB:
“Hey Eve,
Looking at your commonplace entries over the past couple weeks has been really enlightening. I can really tell your passion for English through your dedication to the entries and the variety of sources you bring to them. I have found your images to be very interesting to look at because they almost always bring in something new that wasn’t in the novel. I also enjoyed how you would bring in historical information to contextualize events in the novel or the potential motivations of the author. I liked reading your comments for the quotes that you include in your entries because they show your motivation for including the quote and sometimes they show how the quotes are related to each other despite not having an obvious connection. Your entries made me wonder about the motivations behind the authors for writing the novels and the historical events that may have inspired some of the themes of the novel.”
